Datkid & Leaf Dog present 'Scheme On', 3rd record from upcoming album

Three huge lyricists on one hip-hop record. Forever creating problems for other rappers is Dat Kid and Leaf Dog as they collide on ‘Scheme On’, with assistance from Roc Marciano.

As UK hip-hop goes, High Focus Records are leading the way and delivering ear-thumping records in perpetuity. Two wordsmiths from this roster include Datkid and Leaf Dog. This is the third track from their upcoming album together, Confessions of a Crud Lord, and Bristol’s Datkid steps up first to push his side of the track’s narrative - “If this rap shit don’t work then I’m getting my scheme on.” As Leaf Dog lays the second verse, a feature from Roc Marciano provides the third. The New York native produces a nice switch in the feel of the record as it jumps from UK to US.
Directed by Chris Lucas, these visuals are interesting and stand out from average music videos. We see slow shots taken from the forthcoming album’s artwork, as Datkid paces around a church aligning with the “confessions” concept from the project.

With UK rap (plus drill) being a dominance force of UK pop culture nowadays, the product that Datkid, Leafdog, High Focus and the entirety of their artists are constructing, is dangerous in comparison. We get bars on bars. We see creativity, uniqueness and character within the artists themselves, and their videos. We hear outstanding rhyming talent. We witness artist’s actually taking their skill, developing it and honing their craft. Looking forward to the full-length project from the pair.

Pre-order Confessions of a Crud Lord, dropping May 17th.
