Frankie Staywoke searches for answers in 'Perseverance'
Frankie Staywoke jumps on The XX ‘Intro’ to deliver an honest and realist view into her world, in 'Perseverance'.
The MC, part of the Female AllStars collective, elevates this already emotional instrumental to new heights as she lets us in to her perspective. Over the mellow synth that hold the wight of the beat, Frankie begins discussing her journey - trials and tribulations; “50 shades of lessons”; pressures of being an artist; relationships; growing; the art of acceptance; and overcoming obstacles. As the instrumental increases in tensity, so does Frankie’s tone; spewing more emphasis and passion into her words.
Her flow is matter of fact; not fast but not slow. Clear, calm and concise; allowing us the opportunity to fully understand her lyrics and meaning. Great to see this type of content from these persistent MCs - allowing us around the scene to contemplate on what these artists go through; and other young artists to potentially recognise someone with similar issues and at least, learn that they are not alone.
