LA's future star, Jae Stephens, patterns everything on latest single 'got it like that'
Singer, songwriter and producer Jae Stephens takes full control of her latest release ‘got it like that’, as she executes all three to create this chilled ear-addiction.
Stephens has come a long way since her performance of ‘24k’ on A Colors Show; though they sure are a fantastic platform and spot amazing talent. The Dallas born 21-year old has received multiple props from leading organisations (Beats 1, Complex, Noisey, Radio 1, etc) and has worked/written for huge names - producers and artists. Though it’s good to hear her now, on her own record - and literally entirely her own. All performed, written and produced by the RnB artist.
As her first release in 2019, she delivers a smooth mix of RnB that incorporates classic original vocals with futuristic effected (auto-tuned manipulated) vocals. The chorus amps up the energy as Stephens turns up the volume and passion, and the instrumentation follows suit. The young singer truly uses her voice as the lead instrument but generally keeps it soft, alluring, calm and collected. Beneath that, we hear effected vocals set the easy going melody. Natural-sounding guitars, strings, bass and drums are included to create for a wide, genuine feel.
