Jae Stephens accompanies 'got it like that' hit, with visuals
Two weeks ago, LA’s young star, Jae Stephens, released her entirely solely-created record, ‘got it like that’ - covered here by us - that proved to be quite the single. She now returns with some interesting visuals.
The music video, directed by EST-HER & RAM, clearly portrays Stephens’ displeasement with the opposite sex. As we witness her first, buss on a pink balaclava, akin with the Spring Breakers get up, then proceed to point some gun fingers at a homie who’s blind folded and tied up - seemingly depicting her control over the relationship. As the story plays out we are delivered Stephens in various alluring and compelling locations and situations. Overall, it’s fairly gritty; dark and sinister almost, with an essence of revenge in the air (or serious hell breaking lose if the guy ‘messes up’). But certainly attention grabbing and engaging to watch. As the end draws to a close, and the final scenes appear of the pink balaclava gang blowing out birthday candles; it’s clear that these women hold all the power and control in their relationships.
As mentioned in the single’s write up, the record is great. Upbeat; smooth; and genuine. The visuals accompany this well, adding a layer of further interest and visual intrigue - being that the video seems to have been well though out and holds a narrative of reason, rather than the typical sing at the camera type shoot.
