Ocean Wisdom & Dizzee Rascal deliver a whirlwind of bars on 'Blessed'

"I'm blessed. Work, rest and invest."

Two barrers who define the definition of true wordsmiths, come together once again to unleash their lyrics on 'Blessed'.

As steady guitar strums enter, we are first introduced to Dizzee's verse. The grime legend destroys his part as he ignites his lyrical wisdom and shows us all that he has not lost it one bit.

"I've decided I'm the biggest, baddest ting alive."

The multi-genred star touches on a multitude of topics - indirects, creative competition, his legacy and what is important in his eyes. His infamous, pure-London accent cuts through the mix above eerie piano; slow, dark bass; cold synths; and punching percussion - produced by Dark Heart.

Granted Dizzee was gonna kill it - it's Dizzee. But Ocean Wisdom comes on a next level. Be it, that he has that young hunger? Something to prove? Utter, raw talent? Or just lyrical genius? Who knows; but he truly takes the record to another level in his conceding verse. A tornado of punishing flows - 1, 2 haymakers amongst a flurry of rapidly patterned jabs. This seems to be Ocean’s USP - the ability to deliver a flow as fast as Twista, but still with decent bars. His rhyming patterns are mad and there most definitely is no one else doing it like him currently. The Camden Town rapper takes on similar topics to Dizzee - indirects, competitive confidence, has grasp on his craft and his elevated stature above other MCs.

Both take it old school in the music video, as they sport red and yellow Ferraris. Other settings are as chilling as the production - concrete architecture, dark atmospheres, cold streets, and groups in surgical masks (nice metaphor).

Dizzee Rascal comes with better bars. But Ocean delivers an overall more polished and enhanced performance. Both destroy it. It's good to see Dizzee stand so close to Ocean after previous song's together - he obviously sees how special this rapper is. As for Ocean, he's taking UK rap music and lyrical skill, to another dimension; with his own skill, flows, image, brand and music.
