R&B duo RAYLO discuss complex relationships in 'Eggshells'
R&B has definitely taken a backseat in last several years, with seemingly no current artist really holding the sound down. Craig David made a spectacular return, although was it not followed up?; Was it disingenuous? I dunno, but it hasn’t been too stable. However, if you are looking for that pulse of soul in 2019, a duo RAYLO are doing more than you may have previously heard - ‘Remember Me’; ‘So Gone’; and their 2018 EP So Gone.
They return with ‘Eggshells’. After several releases via GRMdaily, they drop this on their own YouTube page. Big move - build the brand people. Their common visual aesthetics are cold; minimal, blank and white colourways with subtle splashes of loudness. This track replicates this route. As the beat sets the lonely, almost somber tone, RAYLO voices echo through with brightness and focus. This is a decent track, but focus more on these two artists, it will be interesting to see where they go in this current musical climate. With a strong key on R&B, could these singers be the return? Will this genre ever return to the forefront of pop culture?
